Best nation raised, call to Allah.
“You are the best nation raised up for mankind. You enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong and you believe in Allah. If only the People of the Scripture had believed, it would have been better for them [though] among them are believers, but most of them are disobedient.”
Dawah is inviting People to Allah, to the truth and to the right path prescribed by Allah, the creator of everything, our designer, and the provider for everything and every favor, blessings and sustenance in our life. Allah is the one who brought us from non-existence to existence and sent prophets such as Noah, Abraham, Moses, David, Jesus, and lastly Muhammad to call people to worship only Him. If we feel it, we will spend all our lives telling people about the beauty of Islam and to the truth. Regardless the stigma attached to dawah, there are billion reasons why one should get involved in Dawah. So, in this article we will know more about Dawah, the thing that made Muslim nation the best nation, characteristics of the caller to Allah and some benefits of Dawah.
– Importance of Dawah:
1- Dawah talks about you and shows that you are a real human being not a selfish person who knew the right path, has a map to Jannah (paradise) and does not tell people the way. If you conceal the path, then you are just evil and unhumble. Prophet Mohammad (peace be upon him) said “Whoever hides knowledge by which Allah benefits people in their affairs of religion, Allah will bridle him on the Day of Resurrection with a bridle from the Hellfire.”
2-Rewards of Dawah are immense. As, it Strengthen Your Faith and your Relationship with Allah the Almighty. Remember how many times you said the word “Allah” when you tell people about Allah and notice
what is the feeling of your heart and your body when you convey something you truly believe in. We must strive to make our relation with Allah strong and to be a winner in this life and hereafter. Therefore, a great way of ensuring our Dua’s are answered is by giving Dawah.
Prophet said “By Allah, if Allah were to guide one man through you it would be better for you than the best type of camels.” (Bukhari, Muslim).
3-You will have a happy life as you are trying to help someone else to feel happier and happiness is the ultimate result of being close to Allah. Even if you advise someone in a nice way to feel happier, it is a kind of Dawah. So, Dawah is all about feeling a live. Additionally, Allah (glorified and exalted be He) says about the people that are successful:
“Let there arise out of you a group of people inviting to all that is good, enjoining Al-Ma’roof (Islamic monotheism and all that Islam orders one to do) and forbidding Al-Munkar (Polytheism and disbelief and all that Islam has forbidden). And it is they who are successful.” [Qur’an: Chapter 3, Verse 104]
4- you will continue to achieve good and uncountable deeds even after you die. If you teach your kid or somebody else how to do wudu (ablution in Islam), how to pray or even how to recite Surat Al-Fatiha, you still have a reward. As the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) perfectly says:
“When a man dies, his good deeds come to an end except three: on going charity, beneficial knowledge and righteous offspring who will pray for him.” [Muslim]
-characteristics of da’ee(the one who invites to Allah):
A-Be confident as confidence is nothing more than a belief in yourself and a certainty that you can accomplish whatever you set your mind to. Confidence comes from within. So, put yourself out of your comfort zone and Challenge yourself!
“All you need in this life is ignorance and confidence; then success is sure. ”
B- A caller must have morality and good attitude towards people. So, people will be keen to listen to him or her. Imagine if you are at work and have non-Muslim or non-practicing fellows, will they be interested to listen to you if you have a bad attitude towards them, your behavior at work is awful, you are not responsible or you always come late?!! Of course not!
Aboo Hurayrah quoted the Prophet (r) as saying, “The believer whose faith is most complete is he whose character is best.”
Prophet Muhammad summarized the essence of the Islamic message saying, “Indeed, I was only sent to complete the most noble of character traits.”
C-A caller must be kind and gentle. If you give anyone any advice be sure to use soft words with soft style of talking. As a result, it is not appropriate to shout at them or to make them feel they are the inferiors and you are the superior. Harshness could discourage people from even stopping and listening to you. The best example that shows
gentle communication is when Allah instructed Prophets Moosaa and Haaroon to deal gently with Pharaoh who was, at that time,
claiming that he was God: “So speak to him, both of you, mildly in order that he may reflect or fear God.”
D- A caller must have knowledge or at least the basic knowledge he or she needs to convey. It does not mean you must be a scholar to make Dawah, but it means you convey what you learn even if it is a verse you learn in Quran and knew its meaning, a hadith or a beautiful information about Islam you feel other people must know. If a Muslim caller is ignorant, he or she will appear to be weak.
Allah said: “Say: This is my way and I invite to Allah with certain knowledge …”
E- A caller must have patience and must accept all rejections. So, love rejection as whenever you will give dawah you will have to face it. Allah said in Quran to prophet Mohammad:
“Your responsibility is only to convey [the message] and the accounting is on Me.”
(Soorah ar-Ra‘d, 13: 40)
Finally , convey what you learn about Islam and Do not belittle any good deed, even meeting your brother (Muslim) with a cheerful face as it is also considered a way of Dawah.
