Our beloved Muhammed (PBUH) used to go to a cave in Mecca called Heraa. He liked this place because it is a bit far so it is very suitable for meditation and praying. First, he went to speak with the creator of the universe as he knew his existence by his pure heart. But, one day while his usual prayer, Allah sent the angel Jibril (Gabriel) to teach him all about Islam. Quran is not only a book but also the message and miracle of Muhammed (PBUH). The revelation lasted for about 23 years; started when Muhammed was 40 and ended in the year of his death.

Definition of shaheed in Quran

Shaheed in Islam is an important description that needed a detailed explanation. The Muslim shaheed has a special value and place in the great Jannah. He is one of those who will be very near to the prophets hereafter. It is very significant to understand very well who may Allah consider him as a shaheed. Many people think that anyone who has been killed, is a shaheed but actually, this is not true. Our references should be the Quran and the prophet Muhammed’s sayings.

The prophet said: “Five are regarded as martyrs: They are those who die because of plague, abdominal disease, drowning or a falling building, and the martyrs in Allah’s cause.”

The first condition is that your heart must be with Allah and his religion. Martyrs have their great worth because they believed deeply in Allah and his all messengers. Allah told us about their life in the Jannah after death in more than one aya.

And never think of those who have been killed in the cause of Allah as dead. Rather, they are alive with their Lord, receiving provision(169)  Rejoicing in what Allah has bestowed upon them of His bounty, and they receive good tidings about those [to be martyred] after them who have not yet joined them – that there will be no fear concerning them, nor will they grieve(170) They receive good tidings of favor from Allah and bounty and [of the fact] that Allah does not allow the reward of believers to be lost(171)

Quran definition of Muslim

Surah Al-Ma’idah

“This day I have perfected for you your religion and completed My favor upon you and have approved for you Islām as religion. But whoever is forced by severe hunger with no inclination to sin – then indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful (3)”

Allah chose for us the name “Muslims” and the religion itself called “Islam” for many reasons. Those words in the Arabic language came from the root “S-L-M” meaning peace. In Islam, you should be satisfied with the destiny that Allah has determined for you. In addition, your manner must be excellent and you have to treat all people well as our beloved prophet asked us to do.

The prophet Muhammed said: “The Muslim is the one from whose tongue and hand the Muslims are safe, and the Muhajir is the one who forsakes (Hajara) that which Allah has forbidden to him.”

So, Muslims are the only people who follow the religion of the prophet Muhammed (PBUH), Islam. You should know that by choosing the religion Islam as your lasting religion, you agree to believe in all the previous prophets and religions. We Muslims, accept that Allah has sent many prophets and each had his message and signs to prove the existance of Allah.
